Who is wise and understanding / among you?
누가 현명하고 총명합니까 / 여러분들 가운데
Let him show it / by his good life,
그 사람으로 하여금 그것을 보이게 하십시오 / 그 사람의 선한 생활로써
by deeds / done in the humility
행위로서 / 겸손하게 행해진
that comes from wisdom.
지혜로부터 나오는
But if you harbor bitter envy
그러나 만약에 당신이 독한 시기와
and selfish ambition in your hearts,
이기적인 야망을 마음속에 품고 있다면
do not boast about it / or deny the truth.
그것에 대해 자랑하거나 / 진리를 부인하지 마시오
Such “wisdom” / does not come down
그러한 지혜는 / 내려오는 것이 아닙니다
from heaven but is earthly,
하늘로부터가 아니라 세상적인 것이며
unspiritual, of the devil.
정욕적이며, 마귀적입니다
For where you have envy and selfish ambition,
왜냐하면 당신이 질투와 이기적인 야망을 가지고 있는 곳에
there you find / disorder and every evil practice.
거기에 당신은 발견할 수 있기 때문입니다/ 무실서와 모든 종류의 사악한 행위들을
But the wisdom that comes from heaven
그러나 하늘로부터 내려오는 그 지혜는
is first of all pure;
첫째로 순결하고
then peace ? loving, / considerate, submissive,
다음에 평화를 사랑하며 / 사려 깊고 유순하며
full of mercy and good fruit, / impartial, and sincere.
자비와 선한 열매로 가득하고 / 공평하며 진실합니다
Peacemakers / who sow in peace
화평케 하는 사람들은 / 평화의 씨를 뿌리며
raise a harvest of righteousness.
의로움의 추수를 거듭니다 .
