산상수훈
Rejoice and be glad,
기뻐하고 즐거워하라
because great is your reward / in heaven,
왜냐하면 너희의 보상이 크기 때문이다 / 천국에서
for in the same way / they persecuted the prophets
이는 똑 같은 방식으로 / 그들이 선지자들을 핍박했다
who were before you.
너희보다 앞서간
"You are the salt of the earth.
너희들은 세상의 소금이다
But if the salt loses its saltiness,
하지만 만약 소금이 짠맛을 잃어버린다면
how can it be made salty again?
어떻게 다시 짜게 만들어질 것인가?
It is no longer good for anything,
더 이상 아무짝에도 쓸모가 없다
except to be thrown out
밖으로 내동댕이 쳐지고
and trampled / by men.
짓밟히는 것 외에는 / 사람들에 의해
"You are the light of the world.
“너희는 세상의 빛이다
A city on a hill / cannot be hidden.
산 위의 도시는 / 숨겨질 수 없다
Neither do people light a lamp
사람들도 등불을 켜서
and put it / under a bowl.
그것을 놓지 않는다 / 그릇 밑에다가
Instead they put it / on its stand,
대신 그들은 그것을 놓는다 / 스탠드 위에
and it gives light / to everyone / in the house.
그리고 그것은 빛을 준다 / 모든 사람에게 / 집안에 있는
In the same way,
마찬가지로
let your light shine / before men,
너희의 빛을 비치게 하라 / 사람들 앞에
that they may see your good deeds
그들이 너희의 착한 행실을 보고
and praise your Father in heaven.
하늘에 계신 너의 아버지께 영광을 돌릴 수 있도록
