13) They did not become God's children

그들은 하나님의 자녀가 된 것이 아니었다.

 

by natural means,

자연적인 수단에 의해

 

that is, by being born

즉, 태어남으로

 

as the children of a human father;

인간 아버지의 자녀로

 

God himself was their Father.

하나님의 자신이 그들의 아버지셨다.

 

14) The word became a human being

그 말씀은 인간이 되셨고

 

and full of grace and truth

은혜와 진리가 충만하여

 

lived among us.

우리 가운데 거하셨다

 

We saw his glory,

우리는 그분의 영광을 보았다,

 

the glory which he received / as the Father’s only Son.

그분이 받은 영광을         / 아버지의 독생자로서

The point I'm trying to make / is this.

제가 말하려고 하는 요점은   / 이것입니다.

 

We Christians / are in this paradox

우리 그리스인들은 / 이러한 역설에 빠져있습니다.

 

of wanting to live an adventurous life.

모험적인 삶을 살길 원하는

 

We want to live an adventurous life,

우리는 모험적인 삶을 살길 원합니다,

 

and yet at the same time,

그러나 동시에

 

We want to live / in the safety of the crowd.

우리는 살기를 원합니다 / 군중들의 안전함 속에

 

What a paradox!

얼마나 역설적입니까!

 

Everything is so predictable / for many of you,

모든 것이 너무나 예측 가능한 것입니다 / 여러분 중 많은 사람에게

 

cut out for you.

꼭 맞춘 것입니다 / 당신에게

 

You don’t even need to pray

당신은 심지어 기도할 필요조차 없습니다.

 

Or to step out / in faith

혹은 나아갈 필요조차 없습니다 / 믿음으로
